semi-permanent makeup

How do I prepare prior to treatment?

Unfortunately not everyone is a good fit for this Permanent Makeup.  They may have something such as a symptom or condition that would make these procedures inadvisable.

The following is a list of contraindications for these treatments:

  • Under 18 years of age.

  • Diabetes (increased chance of infection if it is not controlled.)

  • Pregnant women

  • Skin diseases such as psoriasis, eczema and undiagnosed rashes or blisters on the site that is to be treated.

  • History of cold sores (if so, consult with your physician.  Many clients avoid coldsore breakouts by taking an antiviral prior to their appointment. This applies to lips and eyeliner PMU.

  • Allergies to makeup or colors.

  • Easily triggered post inflammatory hyper pigmentation or prone to Keloid Scarring.

  • Transmittable blood conditions like HIV or Hepatitis.

  • Active skin cancer in the area to be tattooed.

  • Hemophiliac

  • Uncontrolled high blood pressure or mitral valve disorder. ( CONSULT WITH YOUR PHYSICIAN.)

  • Accutane, chemotherapy within the last 6 months.

  • Fitz Skin types 5 & 6 ( lip blushing only will require a neutralization session.) Please inform us of Dark Lips before Booking.

  • FOR LASH LINE ENHANCEMENT PMU ONLY….Discontinue the use of Lash Serums 1 week before your treatment or touch up. This is imperative as we may not be able to do the procedure and you will be charged.

  • FOR LASH LINE ENHANCEMENT PMU ONLY…. PLEASE MAKE SURE LASH EXTENSIONS ARE PROFESSIONALLY TAKEN OFF 1 WEEK PRIOR TO TREATMENT, LASH TINTING IS DONE 1 WEEK PRIOR AND LASH LIFTS ARE DONE AT LEAST 3 WEEKS PRIOR TO PMU FOR LASH LINE ENHANCEMENT. This is imperative as we will not be able to do the procedure and you will be charged. Lash extensions, lash tinting and lash lifts can be preformed 3 weeks after PMU but are not recommended until 3 weeks after your final touch up session.

  • Any surgeries around the eye need to be done at least 6 months prior to treatment for Lash Line Enhancement PMU.

  • Glaucoma, uncontrolled eye disorders or ocular herpes if wanting to receive the Lash Line Enhancement. ( CONSULT WITH YOUR PHYSICIAN.)

FOR ALL PMU PROCEDURES PLEASE AVOID…

  • 24 hours prior to your appointment DO NOT DRINK the following:

    • Alcohol

    • Caffeine

  • 72 hours prior to your appointment DO NOT TAKE the following:

    • Advil

    • Ibuprofen

    • Aspirin

    • Niacin

    • Vitamin E (unless medically necessary)

    • Fish Oil

    • Blood thinners of any kind

  • Injectables neurotoxins (Botox, Dysport) should be done 2 weeks before or 2 weeks after the procedure if being done in the area of where you would be getting PMU.

  • Injectable Fillers need to be done 4 weeks prior or 4 weeks after procedure if being done in the area of where you would be getting PMU.

  • No waxing, tanning or tinting 3 DAYS PRIOR and 3 WEEKS AFTER Permanent makeup. This includes your touch up as well.

  • Arrive with no makeup for your appointment. A lot of wiping of pigment takes place and makeup can get ruined, save yourself the hassle!

  • Be prepared for your brows, lips or liner to look a little warm and darker in color. Initially after treatment the skin tends to be a bit swollen making the appearance of your PMU look larger at first. This is part of the process and resolves in about 24 hours. Brows will fade in color 20-30%, 30-40% Lips and 10-20% Lash Liner. PMU takes 1-2 weeks to fully heal and an additional 4 weeks for color to continue to bloom and even out into the skin. Touch ups are recommended at 6-8 weeks to add color, adjust shape and strokes if needed, as well as and provide longevity to your PMU. We always take a more conservative approach at the initial visit as we will see you at the touch up to add anything else that is needed.

PMU FAQ’S

  • Semi-Permanent Makeup is a 2 step process:

    • Treatments are 6-8 weeks apart.

    • It is important to complete both the initial procedure and touch-up.

    • Please book your 6-8 week touch up when you book the initial procedure.

  • It is IMPERATIVE you complete the touch-up treatment. Without it, the results will not be optimal. Color will fade significantly within 6 weeks as the skin heals, peels and fades. The touch-up corrects any irregularities in the microbladed hair strokes, color tones, saturation and finishes the process.

  • Please make sure to follow ALL pre and post care instructions for the best results! Please note that if you have any contraindications that does not allow us to preform the service the day of your appointment you will be charged. These appointments require planning and are large gaps out of our day so we want you to be as prepared as possible.

How long can I expect it to last?

  • The pigment used in microblading is semi-permanent and can last between 1-3 years depending on the are and the persons skin, lifestyle etc.

  • The pigment will begin to fade within 12 months.

In order to keep your PMU looking fresh, a touch-up is recommended every 1-2 years for brows and 2-3 years for Lips and Liner.

  • When you are ready to refresh your PMU Color Boost pricing will apply.

  • For clients who have oily skin or those who do not follow the aftercare instructions properly may require more frequent touch-ups.

  • Factors that will cause your PMU to fade faster:

    • Iron Deficiency

    • Sun Exposure

    • Exfoliants (scrubs, peels, retinols) on the tattooed area.

    • Exposure to to much water the first 7 days after the treatment.

    • Smoking

Cosmetic Tattoos

  • Technically cosmetic or Semi-Permanent tattoos are considered permanent because the color is implanted into the upper dermal layer of the skin and cannot be washed off. However, the pigment is implanted more superficially than a traditional tattoo, so it naturally fades over time.

Does the application hurt?

  • We take every precaution necessary to ensure the permanent makeup procedure is as pain free as possible.

    • A strong topical anesthetic cream is used prior to and during the procedure to keep you as comfortable as possible.

    • Some clients find the procedure a little uncomfortable while others report no discomfort at all.

You may take an anti inflammatory after treatment to help with swelling. You may take a damp qtip to remove lymph in the lash line. You will have shields to avoid water from the shower on your eyes for the first 7 days.

Day 2- Eyes can still be slightly swollen, skin will start to feel dry, you will have an aftercare balm you can lightly apply onto the lash Line until the dryness commences.
